Wintery Warm Milk & Honey Spiced Lung Tonic

Wintery Warm Milk & Honey Spiced Lung Tonic

I'm really tucking into couch time with a warm beverage this winter. It's on my top three favorite things to do list for the winter. Fine, I'll just admit that its my number one favorite thing to do!

Winter is the time to replenish our bodies via warming and building foods. Its a time to do less to restore depleted energy. So couch time and a warm beverage is actually quite balancing and just what nature has in store for us! No guilt needed.
As mentioned in my Winter Skin post, some good options for winter are bone broth and sweet potatoes. I am not a kitchen wiz, so I keep it quite simple. Here is a recipe to support your lungs, open airways, and to calm and restore a frazzled mind.
Ingredients:
1 bay leaf
3/4 tsp black pepper
3/4 tsp cardamom
1 pinch cinnamon
3/4 tsp dried ginger
1 tsp honey
1 cup milk- I use almond, but any kind you like is fine!
1 pinch star anise
Directions:

Bring milk to a medium heat, then lower to a gentle simmer. Add all spices and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Don't let the milk get too hot. Remove from heat and add honey to taste. Extra points if you use local Maine honey or Manuka Honey!

Being intentional about what I eat is an important part of staying healthy with the seasons. It's a great way to get in rhythm with nature and create more peace and flow in my life. Cheers to that!
